                                Medical Coding is the transformation of a patient's healthcare diagnosis, treatment received, prescriptions, equipment used and all other procedures done by a physician or a healthcare professional into alphanumeric codes. These codes are important because they are send for reimbursement purposes. Medical Coders extract these useful information form the lab results, notes form the physician or any other test results.

                                Medical Coder uses a set of previously assigned codes for coding, they include, ICD, CPT and HCPCS codes. ICD Codes or International Classification of Diseases are set of codes which denotes, diagnosis, signs and symptoms, causes of death or illness and more. For instance ICD code B74.4 denotes Mansonelliasis. 

                                  Mansonelliasis is a infection caused by a nematode Mansonella. These disease exists in Africa and tropical America, spread by biting midges or blackfires. These usually have no symptoms. Non specific symptoms includes fever, fatigues or abdominal pain. Mansonelliasis is caused by nematodes or roundworms that reside in the skin or certain body cavities.
