                                     Medical Coder is a professional who converts a patients' healthcare diagnosis, prescriptions, treatment received and more into alphanumeric codes. Medical coding is an important factor in healthcare system. Medical coders takes information of a patient from the doctors notes, lab results or any other test results. These codes are important because these codes make up for the whole payment claim for the patient. The generated codes are send to insurance companies to claim insurance for payment purposes. 

Duties of a Medical Coder includes :

  The medical coder gathers all the important information on the patient in order to assign codes.
• The generated codes are entered into a computer and maintain a database.
• They are supposed to carry out a qualitative and quantitative analysis
• Maintain patient information for identification and for billing purpose.
• They even prepare schedules for patient and give out appointments to patient.
